Rotary clubs turned out in force across Great Britain and Ireland at the weekend, to serve up a Big Lunch Rotary style!

Not even the unpredictable weather could deter Rotary organisers who put tables out wherever possible.

The Rotary Club of Norwich lunch may have had a blustery wind as one of its surprise dinner guests but the club still served up many meals on Mundesley Beach. Local Norfolk produce treated all to delicious quiches  and green salads. This was followed by the seasonal delight of freshly picked strawberries from a field nearby along with generous helpings of locally made Italian ice cream, kindly kept frozen by local pub, the Ship Inn.

Despite the cool breeze, participants enjoyed French cricket, beach croquet, Boules and frisby hurling. Some swam in the azure North Sea, describing the experience as exhilarating – through chattering teeth.
The sun was shining and that seemed to cheer all lunchers, aged 7 months to mid-eighties, immensely and the club has promised to return next year.

This is the fourth year that Rotary has supported the Eden Project’s Big Lunch which aims to get people together for a nice meal and a good company.
