Rotary Clubs across Great Britain and Ireland are once again showing their support this year for BBC Children in Need. The appeal is often one of the biggest fundraising events of the year, and this year is extra special, as Pudsey celebrates 30 years as the Children in Need mascot.

Three Rotary Clubs from the Thames Valley area will be joining forces at Heathrow Airport to raise money throughout appeal day. Over 250 volunteers, including representatives from the Rotary Clubs of Misbourne Matins, Marlow Thames and Burnham Beeches are hoping to raise a whopping £45,000 in just one day.

Over 20 clubs from Rotary South also took to the terminals last month and descended upon Gatwick Airport to help raise over £5,000. Children from Chestnut Tree House, a hospice in Sussex, were also given a behind the scenes tour of the airport, which included a tea party and entertainment being provided by TV stars Dick and Dom and Dave Benson Phillips.

The Rotary Club of Horsham also organised a Halloween Party, attended by hundreds of local children, dressed in a host of scary costumes. The event will be featured on tonight’s appeal show on BBC, so keep an eye out!

General knowledge will once again be tested at the Rotary Club of Forres’ annual Children in Need quiz, which is now in its 15th year. In addition to the quiz, sales of raffle tickets have so far raised over £110,000 since 2000, which have been used to support disadvantaged young people in the local area.

Last year, Rotarians and their friends and family contributed over £80,000 towards Children in Need, and we’re hoping this year’s total will be just as generous. Congratulations to everyone who has been raising money, be sure to let us know how you’re celebrating Children in Need on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
