Rotarians in South West England are releasing a brand new Christmas single to raise funds for The Rotary Foundation. The song, Christmas Time (Children Sing) is a feel good Christmas ballad penned by songwriter AJ Lornie and sung by TV Presenter, Shane Solomon.

The music video has been created to make people think about those less fortunate than themselves. The video features school children from around the world and clips of Rotary’s humanitarian work. It will be available for download on Monday December 2 at a cost of 79 pence.

Rotarians are hoping to gain the support of their 53,000 strong membership in Great Britain and Ireland and 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide in their bid to support the increasing humanitarian work they do in areas of need globally. Rotarian Stephen Lay, who is launching the single said: “We are asking people to click to save a life, click to change a life and click to give hope to those millions affected by disaster, conflict, disease or poverty.

"All profits will go to The Rotary Foundation where every penny raised goes to supporting humanitarian work around the world. Rotarians have seen first hand the devastating effect of disasters, conflict and poverty, most recently in the Philippines and through the on going refugee crisis in Syria. These events remind us of the vital need for sustainable solutions that can be delivered through the support of The Rotary Foundation.”

Rotary International President, Ron Burton, who is backing the single said: “Rotarians around the world are working to save lives, change lives and to give hope to eradicate polio and those recently affected by disaster or conflict. Please click to download the song and click to share it amongst your network of contacts. It is that simple, together we can change lives.”

Shane Solomon who created the song and video said: “I’ve been working with Rotary for a few years, and am amazed by the vast amount of humanitarian work they do at home and abroad. It seemed right that we do this in aid of The Rotary Foundation.”

Stephen Lay added: "The timely release of the song will see it in competition with The X Factor winner in the race for the UK Christmas charts as well as the Irish and North American charts. It would be an added bonus if the single made the charts, so we are hoping that as many people as possible will support us."
