Rotary Election Results

Elections

We are pleased to announce the results of recent Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland elections are as follows:

Debbie Hodge of the Rotary Club of Ware, has been elected President of Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland for Rotary year 2018/19.

Brian Stoyel (pictured above right) of the Rotary Club of Saltash, has been elected as the Rotary International Director (Zone 18a) for 2017-19.

Niall Blair (pictured bottom right), of the Rotary Club of Marlow, has also been elected as the Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland Hon. Treasurer for 2017/18 (unopposed).

Technology Tournaments

Big Bang Fair 2016

Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland will be attending the Big Bang Fair 2016, which will be held at the NEC in Birmingham from 16th-19th March.

The four-day event is the biggest event of its kind for young people to get involved with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), with nearly 70,000 people attending last year.

Rotary will use this as a platform to showcase our Technology Tournaments and other youth competitions.

The event is free to attend. Why not have a think about how your club could help a local school or youth group attend the event, or take part in a Technology Tournament?

Rotary Magazine

Magazine

The latest edition of the Rotary magazine has arrived! This issue includes a feature on the recent Cumbria flooding, and highlights the tremendous support clubs from across Great Britain & Ireland offered those affected.

In addition, there is also a travel spotlight on Bournemouth, the location of our Annual Conference, an interview with Paralympian Steve Brown and regional news from across the Isles.

MPRC Awards

Marketing, PR & Communications

The MPRC Awards are open and the closing date for submissions is Friday 18th March 2016

Clubs and districts are eligible to nominate themselves for the following 5 awards:

PR Trophy, District Magazine, Club Bulletin, Club Online Presence and District Online Presence.

The awards are held to celebrate the most effective use of marketing and PR in promoting the Rotary message and the incredible work that our organisation does. Winners will be announced at our Annual Conference in Bournemouth.

Young Chef

Young Chef

There has been a change to the date of this year's National Final for the Young Chef competition.

The final will now take place on Saturday 16th April 2016, a change from the published date of Saturday 23rd April.

The event will be held at Lincoln College, Monks Road, Lincoln, LN2 5HQ.

ShelterBox

ShelterBox

Alison Wallace has been Chief Executive (CEO) of disaster relief charity ShelterBox for almost three years, during its responses to headline disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan and the Nepal quakes. Now she is moving on to an award- winning think tank.

ShelterBox’s Board of Trustees has received permission from the UK Charities Commission to appoint Chris Warham, a Trustee since March 2012, as interim Chief Executive.

He will guide the organisation through the coming months until the charity completes the recruitment of a permanent CEO.

Jubilee of Rotarians

Jubilee of Rotarians

Rotarians from across the world are invited to a Special Jubilee Audience with Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square, at the Vatican, Rome.

The Jubilee of Rotarians will take place from Friday 29th April - Sunday 1st May and will commemorate this year's Rotary theme of 'Be a Gift to the World'. As well as the audience with Pope Francis, other sessions, concerts and services are also available throughout the weekend.
