The Rotary Club of Cleethorpes is pleased to announce that American music legend Dolly Parton has become an honorary member, in recognition of the club’s work for her worldwide book project. Dolly is already a honorary member of two Rotary clubs in America and Cleethorpes is the first club in the rest of the world which she has joined.

The Cleethorpes Rotarians support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in North East Lincolnshire which provides books for children at the Little Stars Nursery in Grimsby. The aim of the project is to create a love of reading among pre-school children by providing them with a free hardcover book every month from birth to the age of five. Club President Jeff Lynn said the club is delighted that Dolly has accepted their invitation as her honorary membership will help raise the profile of the project in the local area.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Grimsby was opened in March this year to coincide with World Book Day. The club is currently in discussion with other venues with a view to rolling out the project in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area ,subject to the availability of further funding.
