Luciano Pavarotti – charismatic singer, and a Rotarian

Luciano Pavarotti died in 2007, but left behind him a lifetime of amazing music and memories. A film celebrating the life of this great tenor – and one-time Rotarian – is released in the UK next week.

He was one of the most celebrated singers ever to grace this planet, and was also a Rotarian – and now a new film is being launched in UK cinemas next week to celebrate the life of musical icon Luciano Pavarotti.

The Italian tenor was a member of the Rotary Club of Modena in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy.

One biography of Pavarotti, who began life as a teacher, describes him as “a faithful Rotarian from his twenties”, and that he was a dazzling star Rotarian.

The film is an in-depth, no-holds barred look at the life, career and lasting legacy of the charismatic Italian.”

However, Pavarotti, who trained as a teacher at an elementary school in his home town, soon became a global superstar and a legend.

This Saturday (July 13th), there will be a special screening of the Ron Howard film ‘Pavarotti’ at London’s Leicester Square, before the movie goes on general release next week.

Pavarotti’s widow, Nicoletta Mantovani, and renowned opera singer, Katherine Jenkins are expected to attend the public screening of the film.

It is an in-depth, no-holds barred look at the life, career and lasting legacy of the charismatic Italian.

Dubbed ‘The People’s Tenor’, Pavarotti was the rare combination of personality, genius and celebrity, using his prodigious gift to bring opera to the masses.

From his memorable friendship with Princess Diana and stunning duets with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Elton John to his incredible charity work for War Child and the United Nations’ Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Pavarotti commanded the great stages of the world and captured the hearts of audiences around the world.

The film features rare interviews with his family and colleagues, and never-before-seen footage of this remarkable man and musical giant.
