Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) and Pudsey Bear are all set for this year’s BBC Children in Need to help disadvantaged children across the country.

Rotary clubs across the country have been putting on a whole range of fun events, with help from everyone’s favourite yellow teddy, and are calling on the public to wear their spots and raise lots on Friday 18th November.

Clubs work tirelessly, throughout the year, to help young people fulfil their potential. To give Pudsey a boost, clubs are pouring energy into all sorts of great activities including meet Pudsey days, quiz nights, kids days out and there are even a few cabaret nights. Be part of the fun by getting involved and you will help make a positive difference to youngsters.

RIBI President Burman says everyone is working hard: “This is a wonderful partnership between Rotary and BBC Children in Need. Every day, everywhere Rotary clubs are working hard to improve the lives of others and it is so fitting that we are linking with BBC Children in Need.

“Everyone has teamed up across the country to give Pudsey Bear and friends a real boost. The big day is Friday November 18th but I am hearing of clubs doing incredible things in the run up to this date. The collection at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 by the Rotary Club of Misbourne Matins, I am sure, will be a great success. There’s also some sporting activity in Croydon thanks to the Rotary Club of Wallington which is putting on a boxing night.

“There are just so many activities being organised by local Rotary clubs across the country and that’s what Rotary is all about, being active in communities, involving people and making a difference while having a great time in the process. I ask the public to support this great cause by being involved with Rotary events. Together we will help children everywhere. Just contact your local Rotary club and find out what is going on in your town.”

Amanda Watkin, RIBI BBC Children in Need Coordinator says clubs have really pulled out the stops: “Give a Rotary club a challenge and they will rise to it. Quite often people think that Rotary is about shaking cans but the number and range of activities really shows that we are far more active. Rotary works with communities and everyone has a tremendous time in the process.”

Pudsey Bear has been travelling the country to supprt events and made an appearance in Horsham, accompanied by Children’s TV Star Dave Benson Phillips and a wonderful variety of large mascot ‘pals’. They stormed Horsham’s Carfax Bandstand to the delight of hundreds of local children and their parents.

The 20 or so motley creatures included Horsham’s very own Ringo the Dragon, Daisy, the extremely lovable cow from this year’s pantomime, Horsham Football Club’s Howie the Hornet, More Than’s Green Horse, Southern Water’s Mr. Drink-It , three wonderful Mascots from the Children’s Trust, Giraffe’s Giddy Giraffe, Mr Simms Jelly Belly and a number of football club mascots including those from Crawley, Wimbledon and Basingstoke.

Discover your local Rotary club and find out how members make a difference whilst having a great time along the way.
