From October 1 motorists no longer need to display a tax disc on their vehicles and Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland has taken the opportunity to launch a new tax disc campaign. Rotarians, their friends and families are being asked to display a specially designed Rotary wheel in place of the tax disc and take to the road to promote the good work Rotary does in local communities.

The distinctive Rotary logo is a perfect fit for the now defunct tax disc holders and through reusing the holders Rotarians hope not only to publicise their activities, but also to attract new members. No tax discs need be displayed any longer, whether they are in or out of date, so anyone can take part immediately.

The idea was the brainchild of Alan Tickle, President of the Rotary Club of Ormskirk Clock Tower, who launched the campaign this week. Alan said: “Rotary has been a driving force behind hundreds of good causes and charities for many years and the abolition of the tax disc provides an ideal opportunity for us to reuse the holders to raise our profile.

“We hope that the campaign will attract interest in Rotary and ultimately new members so that we can continue our work in local and global communities. Apart from the Rotary wheel, the new disc displays information on how members of the public can contact their local Rotary club.”

The disc is available to download below in sets of six so that the extra discs can be distributed to other Rotarians, friends and family. Rotary is hoping that 20,000 of its 50,000 members in Great Britain and Ireland will be displaying the disc by Christmas and the rest by International Rotary Day on 23 February 2015.

Please download the Rotary Tax disc here.

Anyone is welcome to take part in this campaign. Post your photos to the campaign facebook group, or email it to marketing@rotarygbi.orgPlease note, in the Republic of Ireland motorists still need to display their tax disc but can display this disc alongside their actual tax disc.
