Surgical glove campaign to tackle ebola crisis
Surgical glove campaign to tackle ebola crisis

Rotary in London has launched a new fundraising campaign to support the Rotary Club of Monrovia’s worldwide effort to help those affected by the ebola crisis. With schools closed, children orphaned and hospitals overwhelmed, the Monrovian Rotarians are using the money raised to source much needed supplies, provide food for quarantined families and help those displaced by the disease.

All 64 clubs in the Greater London area are taking part in the Rotary in London Surgical Glove Campaign which involves passing surgical gloves around at meetings to be filled with money to buy much needed surgical gloves. Gloves are of particular importance in the fight against ebola as they play a vital role in preventing the spread of the disease. Just £1 can buy fifteen pairs and many thousands are needed.

The clubs will also be fundraising in their local communities, collecting money in surgical gloves and selling ‘Ebola is Real’ badges which can be purchased for £2.50 each with all the proceeds going to the cause.

Meanwhile, the campaign launched in September by the Rotary Club of Marlow and other clubs in the Thames valley area, has so far raised over £34,000 with donations coming in from all over the world including the USA, Canada, the Caribbean and Australia.
