The Syrian Crisis – What is Rotary doing?
The Syrian Crisis – What is Rotary doing?

With the news that now over 2 million people are now living in refugee camps in the countries bordering with Syria, the Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) International Committee met at the RIBI headquarters in Alcester earlier this week to discuss the humanitarian crisis.

Of the Rotary disaster response schemes, Disaster Aid UK & Ireland, ShelterBox and Aquabox are getting aid into the area at this time. ShelterBox is working with agencies in Iraq, Lebanon and Turkey and has supplied over 1,600 boxes plus other support equipment, whilst Aquabox is working with agencies in Lebanon and have supplied 500 boxes containing humanitarian aid and water filtration kits. Disaster Aid UK & Ireland is working with agencies in Lebanon to provide blankets and medical kits and with agencies in Jordan to provide fuel and clothing.
