Saddle up for the Rotary Ride and help raise funds for prostate cancer charities.
On and around Father’s Day weekend 2018, 16th and 17th June, across Great Britain and Ireland, our Rotary clubs are organising bike rides for all to join in whether a beginner with stabilisers or an experienced mountain biker.
From static bike rides and family fun rides to more challenging routes there will be something to suit everyone. You will join hundreds of cyclists who are pedalling to raise funds for aiding research and treatment into the disease.
This year’s chosen charities are Prostate Cancer UK, Prostate Scotland, Prostate Cymru and the Irish Cancer Society. These charities offer tremendous support for those affected by the cancer, whether patients, relatives or friends.
Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland is delighted to be supporting these charities again, after previously partnering with them in 2015 and 2016, and look forward to working with them for the next three years. It is also possible to nominate a local prostate cancer charity of your choice.
In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives. Older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer and black men are more at risk.
It is estimated that over 11,000 men die every year which amount to one man every 45 minutes. This means there is a significant need to increase awareness, treatments and research.
The survival rate is improving but early diagnosis is still necessary and can often lead to more successful care.
Rotary clubs are invited to organise a cycling event, using the handy Rotary Ride Guidance Pack, and register it to help riders find it and take part using our clever interactive map.
The Rotary Ride is hugely popular and has the potential to raise life-saving funds as well as invite people to find out what their local Rotary club does in their community and beyond.
Register your ride, find an event and get more information by visiting the Rotary Ride registration area. You will need the login details from the Rotary Ride Guidance Pack in order to register your event.
