The 500 mile cycle relay, Extramile £1Million Challenge, has reached the milestone of raising £1m for good causes after just 10 years. Around 200 cyclists take part in the challenge, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Bedford Park, the Rotary Club of Milton Keynes Grand Union and Heald Solicitors.
The cyclists compete in teams of four, comprising local businesses and individuals with a third of the funds raised going to local charities and the remaining two thirds going to each team’s nominated charity.
“It’s an exceptional achievement to have reached the £1million mark and we take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in Extra Mile Challenges over the last 10 years. The Rotary clubs have been fundamental in organising the event, the cyclists have been phenomenal in raising the money and our commercial supporters have done a fantastic job” said a spokesman for Heal Solicitors.
