The handover of the presidency of RIBI from John Minhinick to Nan McCreadie took place on July 6 at The Stoop in Twickenham, home of the Harlequins Rugby Club.
After officially taking over the presidency, Nan McCreadie said: “The Rotary year 2013/14 is our centenary and as we move into a new era we should take the opportunity to promote the benefits of Rotary, particularly the happiness and enjoyment that being a Rotarian can bring. That way we can attract new people to join us who would like to give something back to their community, make new friends, enjoy themselves and share that happiness too.”
For the first time the event was shared with the handover of the chairmanship of Rotaract in Great Britain and Ireland (RGBI). The new Chairman of RGBI, James Lovatt said that to be sharing the occasion with Rotary was a sign of how Rotaractors and Rotary clubs are increasingly working more closely together.

Rotaractors can bring many new skills to a project whilst Rotarians bring experience and knowledge. This is very helpful in developing the full potential of young professionals, therefore it makes sense to work in partnership on joint projects whenever possible.”
