It has been a busy year for Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) President Burman, and it is only July!
Having taken up the leading role at the start of the month, President Burman has already visited the Llangollen International Eisteddfod in District 1180 and travelled to District 1160 to meet the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, in Dublin.
He is currently in District 1190 , with District Governor Ron Duxbury, to see the tremendous work being carried out in Cumbria and Lancashire, including the SPACE multi-sensory centre in Preston and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards event in Grange-over-Sands. As part of his very active tour, President Burman will be climbing the wall when he arrives at the Lake District Calvert Trust , an outdoor experience centre for people with disabilities.
Despite a very busy schedule, President Burman and DG Ron joined Kevin Fernihough on BBC Radio Cumbria for a chat about Rotary, the exciting future for the organisation, the many wonderful opportunities which await young people and why wearing a tie is not always necessary for a Rotary meeting.
