Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland will now be offering even more opportunities for young people, thanks to becoming an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE).

Interact, the junior branch of Rotary, now offers volunteering opportunities, which will count towards achieving the Volunteering section of the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, which is given to young people for completing a range of “self-improvement” activities.

The new relationship means Interactors can carry on with their excellent social impact work in local communities whilst also completing their Volunteering section for their DofE.

President of Rotary in GB and Ireland, Peter Davey comments, “The youngsters within Rotary are so dedicated to making a difference and their work is worthy of recognition beyond Interact. I am thrilled that The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has licensed Interact as an AAP and I am very much looking forward to working with this inspiring charity and helping out young people to be the best they can be.”

Lizzie Usher, Programme and Quality Manager from The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, commented: “At the DofE our aim is to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements. By licensing Approved Activity Providers we are giving young people the opportunity to gain a wide range of experiences while achieving their Award.

“Interact has long history of supporting young people to do good in their community, which is exactly the sort of work we encourage. We hope that young people will reap the benefits of our latest partnership with Rotary and will enjoy volunteering for their community.”
