Bradford University played host to international peace experts when the Bill Huntley Seminar showcased the unique Rotary scheme that helps to promote world understanding and reduce conflict.
Rotary Peace Fellows promote national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities.
Goranka Slavujevic is one of the students: “For me, being a peace fellow means having peace as a value, practice and profession. Also, it means having the support to follow my passion in life. It means having the responsibility and privilege to take what I learn from my time as a peace fellow and contribute to the wider community.”
Dick Hazlehurst, host area coordinator to the University of Bradford:“The annual Bill Huntley Memorial seminar is a celebration of our peace fellows, who are dedicated to conflict resolution. Our graduates will influence key decision makers in the quest for peace. Using these skills they bring us closer to a world without conflict. This event highlights the excellent work achieved by the Rotary Peace Fellows who study at the University of Bradford.”
Chris Bown, host area committee member added: “Only 60 Rotary Peace Fellowships are offered each year at the six Rotary Peace Centres around the globe. To their credit, many past fellows go on to work in areas of conflict on the frontline and several now work with agencies such as the United Nations and the Red Cross.”
