Winners of this year’s RIBI Young Photographer and RIBI Young Writer competitions attended a winners event in Alcester to receive their prizes from RIBI President, John Minhinick.
The youngsters were each presented with certificates and cash prizes before joining Rotarians and RIBI staff for a special lunch. The Young Writers were also presented with boxed pens provided by sponsors, Cross.
After lunch, the winning photographers received a master class in portrait photography by UK Portrait Photographer of the Year, Chris Bradbury. RIBI President John Minhinick was the ‘model’ for the shoot and after listening to Chris’s expert guidance on lighting and positioning, the young photographers put into practice what they had learnt by photographing their parents.
The winning young writers were filmed reading their pieces of writing on the theme of peace for a film which will be uploaded to the RIBI website.
RIBI President John Minhinick said: “Developing the talents of young people through our youth competitions is a key part of what Rotary is all about. So it was good to meet so many talented youngsters in person to present their prizes and have a chat with them about their ambitions and aspirations."
The winning entries will be presented to RI President Sakuji Tanaka and RIBI President John Minhinick to mark the end of their year in office in July.
