This year’s Young Citizen Award winner, Bella Field is celebrating a momentous achievement after reaching her exceptional £100,000 fundraising target for Haven House Children’s Hospice in Essex.
After Bella’s sister, Molly, passed away at the age of eight having suffered from a brain tumour, Bella and her family have been fundraising for the hospice under the banner of ‘Molly Field Productions’.
After putting on many performances in the past, her latest concert called ‘Sing’, was attended by over 150 people, and raised the £2,000 needed to take Bella’s fundraising efforts beyond the £100,000 milestone.
As much as 70% of the hospice’s funding must be achieved through donations and fundraising activities. The work of individuals like Bella is essential to allowing Haven House to continue to provide care and support for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “Words are simply not enough to describe our gratitude to the Field Family. What they have achieved over the past five years is nothing short of remarkable.”
“Through their fundraising we have been able to support other families with life-limited children across a full range of services. These include planned respite, short break and end-of-life care, as well as services designed to improve emotional and physical wellbeing.”
Bella has previously been commended by Rotary as one of seven winners of the Rotary Young Citizen Award in April 2015, having been nominated by the Rotary Club of Redbridge. She also delivered a speech at the Rotary International convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in June 2015, having been invited to attend by former Rotary International President Gary Huang.
