Winners of the Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) Young Citizen Awards attended the International Convention Centre in Birmingham to receive their awards at the 89th RIBI Annual Conference.
Live coverage of the ceremony, hosted by the BBC’s Konnie Huq and Ellie Crisell, was broadcast on the BBC News Channel. The recipients of the awards – which celebrate the positive things that young people do to help others – also received a donation of £500 each to spend on their project.
The winners were Bethany Eason from the Wirral, who campaigns on behalf of deaf people, Davis College from Ireland, who have created a missing persons campaign, Eastlands Primary School from Rugby, who have made a film about cyber bullying, Harvey Parry from London, who has won multiple gold medals in disability sport and Lucy Daldy from Essex, who runs a charity to help victims of sexual abuse.
Nan McCreadie, President of RIBI said: “The achievements of these youngsters are an inspiration to us all. I am very proud of them and wish them all the very best in the future.”
