Getting in the swing for golf

Getting in the swing for golf

Rotary members are establishing golf tournaments across the globe, connecting individuals with old and new friends.

Hamburg 2019

The 56th IGFR Rotary Golf World Championship (26-31 May 2019) will be a truly unforgettable event.

The response is overwhelming; Rotary friends and golfing fellows from over 20 nations have registered.

Many seize the opportunity to take part in the RI Convention immediately after the Golf Championship, which will also be taking place in the city.

Barry Rassin, President of Rotary International as well as his designated successor, Sushil Kumar Gupta, will both be attending the tournament.

The German preparation team has worked out quite an attractive programme.

The game will be played on one of the best golf courses in Germany.

Non-players will not be left out, due to the exciting city life.

With its charm, Hamburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.

It is often referred to as the “Gateway to the World” and offers a unique experience for all visitors.

Proceeds from the tournament will go towards the polio campaign and one regional air project.

Leicestershire 2019

Never mind the Ryder Cup and The Open, all golfing eyes are fixed on the 33rd Rotary GBI Golf Club Championship which tees off later on this year.

The Leicestershire Golf Club, situated on the outskirts of Leicester, will host this year’s competition on September 2nd.

It will consist of two-person teams fighting it out for the team title and an individual competition.

The deadline for entries is April 30th.

Championship organiser, Simon Gravett, admitted that because of falling support in recent years, the format of the tournament has been revised to simulate more entries.

“We’ve set the initial deadline for entries for April 30th when a decision about the viability of the event will be taken,” he said.
