Iceland to host multi-zone Rotary Institute

Iceland to host multi-zone Rotary Institute

Mike Thorn, one of the organisers of this September’s Action Summit in Iceland, describes why it will be a worthwhile event for British and Irish Rotarians to attend.

Every year we hold a multi-zone Rotary Institute following Governor Training.

This year we wanted to do things differently and this starts with the event title, reflecting a move from the traditional Institute.

We have joined up with Lena Mjerskaug from Norway to allow all to experience the internationality of Rotary.

Where better than Iceland – a country that is spectacular and really like no other.

We will be joined by the President of Iceland, the President and Vice President of Rotary International, Jennifer Jones and Nicki Scott, plus most importantly…… yourselves.”

Many of us have had Iceland on our bucket lists and now is the opportunity to go, and at the same time what better than the inspiration of the Northern Lights to “Imagine Rotary”.  We hope that you will be able to enjoy this incredible country before or after the Action Summit

You may know this event as an Institute and technically it is, but we have an emphasis on fun and action. We will be joined by the President of Iceland, the President and Vice President of Rotary International, Jennifer Jones and Nicki Scott, plus most importantly…… yourselves.

We will be offering the Power of Rotary Seminar as an inclusive option and standalone for those who only wish to attend it.

We have even built-in time for you to go for the traditional early morning swim in the local geothermal swimming pool Laugardalslaug, where you can meet the locals and chat in the warm hot tub.

The 2022-23 District Governors have been unable to meet as a whole group.

This year we wanted to do things differently and this starts with the event title, reflecting a move from the traditional Institute.”

So, we are building in the DG Forum a programme that will include sections of the Power of Rotary and District Governor-only sessions with Jennifer Jones plus Nicki and Lena to support them and create international debate.

The event will take place between September 15th and 18th September.
