Katy ends Presidential year by getting married

Some Rotary Presidents choose to end their year quietly, but Katy Pritchard from Somerset decided to go out in style.

Katy Pritchard decided to end her year as President of her Rotary club on a high – by getting married.

Katy, who was President of Crewkerne District Rotary in Somerset, tied the knot just weeks before the end of her Presidential year.

The wedding, in Crewkerne Parish Church, provided an unusual background for the club’s chain of office against her home-made red wedding gown.

In another quirky twist, the bride rang the church bells accompanied by the Crewkerne Bell Ringers, with whom she is a member and, alongside husband Lewis Manuel, participates in the post-practice quiz in Oscars.

Crewkerne District Club has a young and diverse membership, who enjoy a busy social calendar, as well as organising and supporting important community events.

The happy couple can regularly be seen in high-vis at events including Crewkerne Fair, Bonfire Night and Home Farm Festival.

In a fitting end to Katy’s Presidential year, in her final meeting in June, the club made donations totalling £3,850 to charities.

These include the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and her nominated charity Promise Works, a mentoring charity which supports vulnerable young people across Somerset and with whom she serves a voluntary mentor.

Making a difference in our communities.
