Photograph: Rotary is on top of the world with intrepid explorer Gavin Bates.
Rotarians usually move mountains in the pursuit of making a difference but honorary member, Gavin Bates, has taken a more traditional, although very challenging approach, by climbing Mount Everest, for the fifth time.
He reached the summit in the early hours of Friday 20th of May, taking a moment to pose with the Rotary flag, 29,000 feet above sea level.
While Gavin was making the arduous and risky climb, the Rotary Club of Limavady were showing their support by climbing the same distance but cleverly sharing the journey so that each participant only did 385 metres.
They scaled Binevenagh Mountain in aid of charity Moving Mountains which provides education for young people in five third-world countries.
Gavin is now on his way back down with wishes him a safe return journey back to base camp flooding in.
