Baroness Gillian Shephard, Deputy Chair of the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission, attended a meeting with seventeen Rotary clubs organised by the Rotary Club of Cardiff Breakfast.
The Baroness heard about a range of projects carried out by Rotarians in the area, including the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay Peace Programme, Rotaract, Interact, Rotakids, the Merthyr Tydfil Community Garden project and the Young Carers programme. She also heard how hundreds of youngsters are taken for a fun day out through the KidsOut project and received a KidsOut baseball hat.
Rotarian Maggie Hughes said: “It was a great opportunity to spread the word about the good things Rotarians carry out in the region. The Baroness was extremely impressed with everything she heard and requested that details of all the projects be sent to her.”
