Since 1988, Rotary International and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) – the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – along with, more recently, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have worked to wipe polio from the face of the earth.

Polio is almost completely eradicated. But, as Bruce Aylward says: "Almost isn’t good enough with a disease this terrifying". Aylward lays out the plan to continue the scientific miracle, which Rotary has been instrumental in creating, that has ended polio in most of the world – and to snuff it out everywhere, forever.

Rotary’s ‘heroic’ contribution is acknowledged just under 10 minutes into the video.
