The Rotary Club of Downham Market has formed a partnership with a local bank through its new initiative, Corporate Friends, which has raised enough money to fund three ShelterBoxes.

Chris Shaw, of the Rotary Club of Downham Market explains: “We joined together with Barclays Bank for a week long collection for ShelterBox at the bank’s branch in Downham Market. At the end of the week, the bank staff held a big cake day and a superb selection of cakes was available for purchase by customers, visitors and staff. The collection raised £720 and Barclays generously doubled that amount.”

Corporate Friends is an initiative designed to develop more links with the local community through partnering with local businesses. Chris said: “We hope that more businesses and other organisations will want to be associated with the good work that we do by becoming a Corporate Friend. The initiative provides businesses with the opportunity to join us in fund raising in the local community with no fee and no obligation.”

Once a local business has become a Corporate Friend, their details can be displayed on the Rotary Club of Downham Market website and the club thereafter keeps in touch via email and personal contact. The club now has over 30 Corporate Friends and more are joining every week.
