With Rooney, Hodgson and co. playing at Euro 2016, the Rotary Club of Burton upon Trent hosted its annual 5-a-side competition at St. George’s Park, giving dozens of young people the chance to run in their idol’s footsteps.
16 teams competed in the national finals, giving all players and the hundreds of spectators the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere. The final was eventually contested by Garstang Community Academy and Potters Bar & Villages, and after a closely contested match, the latter came out on top, winning by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
