Hundreds of youngsters all over the country enjoyed a great day out on Wednesday 12 June thanks to Rotary clubs and the charity KidsOut.

KidsOut is a project for which thousands of Rotarians offer their time, help and support in order to bring fun and happiness into the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children. They arrange days out to family friendly and fun places such as adventure parks, the seaside, zoos or even something as simple as a picnic. For many of the children who attend it is often a once in a lifetime experience.

More than 100 venues and 1,700 Rotary volunteers took part this year. RIBI President Elect, Nan McCreadie visited an event at Aldershot’s army rugby ground where around 500 children attended. Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Rushmoor and other local clubs arranged for a fairground, bouncy castles and barbecues to be installed for the day.

The first Rotary KidsOut Day took place in 1990. Since then, up to 25,000 disadvantaged children have enjoyed a fun day out every year.
