Talented virtuosos hit the right note with Rotary when they took first prize in the Rotary Young Musician Competition 2010.
Nineteen competitors aged 18 and under from across Great Britain and Ireland took to the stage at the grand Chelmsford Cathedral last weekend to show off their musical talents.
Timothy Keasley from Gloucester (pictured above with RIBI president Ian Thomson), jointly sponsored by the Rotary clubs of Gloucester and Cheltenham Sunrise, wowed judges with his Oboe talents and took the title for Solo Instrumental whilst Josephine Goddard from Bristol (pictures below), sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wrington Vale, fought off stiff competition to claim the top prize in the Solo Vocal category.

Although Rotary clubs have for many years individually hosted a huge number of Young Music competitions, this is the first year Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland has organised a grand final where competitors from across Great Britain and Ireland can compete against each other.
Organiser Ian McMeekan said: “Rotary Young Musician gives young people the opportunity to show off their talents to a wide audience and, for many, their first chance to perform on a large stage.
“This is just one of the many Youth Opportunity projects Rotary runs which help to encourage and promote young people’s achievements and interests. This first grand final was a huge success and we hope it will grow and grow over the next few years”
