The Rotary Club of Leicester DeMontfort saddled up for the first of many big ride outs. Marking the start of the Rotary year, nearly a hundred dedicated bikers hit a 100 mile circuit, known as the Leicestershire Loop.

It is hoped this will become an annual event and that more Rotarian motorbike lovers will don leathers and join the gang to raise money for good causes.

The ride from Market Harborough via Melton Mowbray and finishing at the Mallory Park race circuit raised £1,750 for local charities supported by the club including: Rainbows Children’s Hospice; Help for Heroes and the Derbyshire and Leicestershire Air Ambulance.

One of the riders, John Mann, who took his Harley Davidson Trike along for the ride said: "It was tremendous fun. I shall be looking to do this again next year"

Organiser Andrew Robinson said the event was great:"All costs of putting on the event were covered by local companies and the Rotary Club of Leicester DeMontfort, so that every penny we raised is going to good causes. This has been a tremendous success and we have learned so much about organising this event, which means it will get bigger and better in years to come."
