The Rotary Club of Belfast has developed a new unique resource pack, Get Set to be Hired, for young people in a joint initiative with YouthAction Northern Ireland and the Ulster Bank. The pack aims to help young people apply for a job who may not have the confidence, qualifications or communications skills to access the employment market.
The first copy was presented to the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, at a launch event in Belfast, who said: “This new resource pack is a fantastic initiative. It provides a unique opportunity for our young people to improve and build upon their employability skills, which will hopefully lead to exciting prospects for them in the future.”
Ken Morrison, President of The Rotary Club of Belfast said: “It is a unique package for young people wanting to apply for a job, as it contains the resources for them to recognise their skills, talk about them with confidence, link them with job descriptions, have a well structured CV and experience of an interview situation.”
The Get Set to be Hired resource was designed as a direct result of the highly successful Get Set to Go employability project in which the Rotary Club of Belfast and Ulster Bank were business partners. The project was operated by YouthAction funded by the Department for Employment and Learning and focused on 16 – 25 year olds, identifying young people who lack employment experience and who may not have gained GCSE qualifications, who could benefit from support in building their confidence and improving their communication skills.
