A new partnership between LifeBox and Disaster Aid International is set to transform the way aid is delivered by both organisations. LifeBox is also changing its name to Disaster Aid UK to reflect its new status and position within the worldwide network. With 35 years of experience of helping disaster victims, Disaster Aid UK will help with projects in conjunction with Canada, Australia and the USA.

As part of their first deployment, Disaster Aid U.K. has committed 5000 LifeStraw water filters to Pakistan which will give over 5000 people in the resettlement camps clean drinking water immediately.

This new coordinated approach will also help to cut costs and open up access to more resources for both organisations.

Michael Davies, Chair of Disaster Aid UK, said: “We watched, with great interest, the formation of Disaster Aid International and its rapid deployment of over 1000 life saving boxes.  Having met the Rotarians who work with Disaster Aid International, it became clear that our 35 years experience in providing support and aid would boost operations and save countless more lives through a co-ordinated approach. Disaster Aid International has demonstrated what Rotarians and Rotary can do.  We are very are excited about joining the Disaster Aid International family.”

David Langworthy, Chair of Disaster Aid International, welcomed the inclusion of LifeBox UK as Disaster Aid UK. “This is the original Rotary box project and is a respected provider of emergency aid. The fact that it is so well known throughout the Rotary world makes it a natural progression to join Disaster Aid International. Disaster Aid International is a true Rotary club project. It is open, transparent, reflects Rotary values and ethics.

“None of this would have been possible were it not for the ever strong support of the public. It is thanks to them that we have been able to provide life-saving support at times of disaster.

“Not only are we very grateful for the donations, we are all very  thankful for the time and energy given by the Disaster Aid Response Team (DART ) which attracts large numbers of young men and women who want to be involved. Now with Disaster Aid UK on board, there are even more opportunities for people to be involved and make a difference. I warmly welcome everyone who is interested. This joined up approach is a win win situation for all.

“Michael Davies and the board of LifeBox are to be commended. The decision to join Disaster Aid International after 35 years of service with the Emergency Box Trust must have been a very difficult decision, and they must be applauded.  I welcome Michael, his board and all LifeBox supporters to the Disaster Aid family, they have shown great courage and leadership so that we can collectively help and save more lives.  Welcome and thanks you to all at LifeBox.”
