Past President of RIBI, Norman Proctor has been awarded the MBE by the Queen in the New Year’s Honours List for services to charity and support for businesses.
Norman has been involved with the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project as a trustee for many years and travelled extensively, most recently to the Jaipur Limb Caribbean project, which supplies artifical limbs to victims of the Haiti earthquake. Norman has also been a supporter of Shelter Box since its foundation in 2001. Prior to that he worked with VSO in Tanzania helping the Arusha Leper Colony and Street Children’s Home.
Outside of Rotary, Norman has been managing director of a number of companies, trustee of a medical research foundation and fundraising committee member for the hugely successful St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth. For many years he was part of the Tamar Education Business Partnership helping with school projects and is also a member of the Plymouth Business Council.
Norman is a member of the Rotary Club of Saltram Plympton and was RIBI President from 2000/2001.
