Past RIBI President, Allan O. Jagger has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year 2014 National Honours List. The award was made in recognition of services to training and education of young people through Kirkdale Industrial Training Services (KITS) and to charity in West Yorkshire.

Allan, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Elland, has a long and distinguished track record in providing training and education in engineering for school leavers as well as being involved in a raft of local community based charitable causes and projects.

Commenting on the appointment, Allan said: “I am humbled by the news that Her Majesty the Queen has appointed me an OBE. I have always felt passionate about the training and education of young people, having encountered difficulties myself in achieving my personal goals after leaving school. The honour bestowed on me reflects all the hard work and efforts of my colleagues, management, staff and other stakeholders involved in training apprentices at KITS.”

Allan joined the Rotary Club of Elland in 1983 and served as District Governor for the Yorkshire area in 1999 before becoming President of RIBI in 2007.
