Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) President, Nan McCreadie, visited a new sensory herb garden at the Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin. The new garden is the result of a joint effort by four Dublin Rotary clubs to provide an outside space for the enjoyment of the clinic’s patients.

The Central Remedial Clinic specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with a wide range of physical conditions and also offers a range of training, development and day activity options to adults. The sensory garden will provide patients with the opportunity to explore an outdoor environment where they can enjoy fresh air and stimulate their senses.

Eighteen months ago, the site was derelict but thanks to the Rotarians, it has been transformed into a beautiful space for growing herbs. Mary Carroll, President of the Rotary Club of Dublin North, said: “We are delighted to welcome President Nan McCreadie to our new garden. It has been designed to provide wheelchair access to the growing areas so that the children can go outside and feel and smell the herbs, which will be very beneficial for their wellbeing. The garden is very attractive and appeals to the senses in every way.”

The four Rotary clubs which took part are the Rotary Club of Dublin North, the Rotary Club of Dublin Central, the Rotary Club of Dublin Fingal and the Rotary Club of Dublin Viking.
