The Rotary Club of Rutand is delighted to announce that a former winner of the Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) Young Writer competition has published her first book.

It was back in 2007 that the Rotary Club of Rutland sponsored Beth Cortese and entered her into the competition which she went on to win. Since then, Beth, 20, has written her first children’s book working with her sister Lucy, who did the illustrations. The book is an enchanting story called Buttercup and her Many Legged Friends. It is written for nine to eleven year olds and has now been published by Rowanvale Books.

A spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Rutland said: “At Rotary we’re all about helping local communities and the RIBI Young Writer competition is part of developing and encouraginging the talent of our young people. It is very rewarding that it has worked out so well for Beth and we wish her every success for the future.”
