Members of the Rotaract Club of Edinburgh have been awarded Scottish Government Saltire Awards after notching up 1,125 hours of volunteering in a year.

Rotaractor Alistair Mackie received a certificate signed by First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond in recognition of 500 hours of volunteering. Club President, Tobias Elder von Koch and Vice President, Sophie Thurlow both received awards for each achieving 100 hours of volunteering.

Supported by the Scottish Government, the Saltire Awards are designed to formally recognise the commitment and contribution to society made by young volunteers.

The Rotaract Club of Edinburgh meets regularly on Monday evenings at the Kenilworth pub in Rose Street. The club is open to people aged 18-30 who want to support their local community through volunteering and fundraising whilst meeting new people and having fun.
