To celebrate Rotary’s 110th Birthday, Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends around the country are being urged to join Community Service Chairman Mukesh Malhotra, Rotarian Adrian Brewer and Vice President Elect Eve Conway and as they walk across the 02 Dome to raise money for End Polio Now and Walk for Water.
The event, which will take place on Rotary Day (February 23rd), involves climbing across the top of the 02, formerly the Millennium Dome, where the End Polio Now emblem will be raised to celebrate the incredible efforts of Rotarians across the globe in the End Polio Now campaign, which continues to be a key priority for Rotary.
Mukesh explains, “We are keen for as many Rotary members, along with their friends and families, to get involved and hope that anyone taking part will collect sponsorship, which will help to raise as much money as possible for the two supported charities”.
There will be a number of special guests joining the event and the team is hoping that the walk can be rolled out as an annual event to mark the rotary birthday each year.
Adrian continues: “This is a great opportunity for members to celebrate Rotary’s 110th birthday by giving themselves a bit of a challenge and raising money for two great charities. It will certainly be a record for the most Rotarians to ever climb the dome at one time!”
Eve Conway adds: “The walk is a really fun way to raise awareness of Rotary and the kind of work that we do. I am hoping that people from all ages and walks of life will get involved. I’m afraid of heights so if I can do it – anyone can!”
