The Rotary Club of Wolstanton, District 1210, is helping youngsters in the community to enjoy their playtime.
£1,500 was raised by the club over Christmas, through collections and activities at ASDA, and given to the North Staffordshire Special Adventure Playground. Club President Chris Beardmore (pictured) said: “It is a result of the generosity of Wolstanton residents that we have been able to support this locally based good cause”.
John Wakefield (pictured), Director of the Playground Trust, thanked the Rotary club for their support, explaining that with the huge cuts in grants and support from local government sources, the Playground Trust was extremely grateful for this money which will be used to help pay for the running costs of the organisation.
The adventure playground provides a fantastic wonderland of activities for children, young people and adults with special needs. It is the only facility offering this service within North Staffordshire and South Cheshire and is run by a volunteer management committee with experienced paid staff and a team of volunteer helpers.
There is a large outdoor playground with swings, slides, an adventure trail, an aerial runway, bicycles and other equipment that provides visitors with the opportunity to express themselves, learn and have fun. Indoors there is a playroom with a brightly coloured three story soft play structure and separate facilities for art, crafts, music, cooking and drama.
The playground is open seven days a week throughout the year.
