BBC programme Blue Peter joined 185 Rotary volunteers, and a few Sea Scouts from Colchester, in Chelmsford to clean up this year’s V-Festival.

After the revellers have gone home, following a weekend of music and mayhem, the campsite is left littered with tents and other camping equipment. Always finding an opportunity to help others, local Rotary clubs rolled up their sleeves and not only tidied up the area, but sold the tents to raise funds for charities.

Some tents are cleaner than others and the team checked every one to see if it could be used to raise funds. There have even been occasions when festival-goers are still asleep inside!

By the end of the mammoth mission, the campsite was clear and Rotary clubs had perfect items which generated £9,000 for various good causes.

This year, presenter Helen Skelton joined Verity and her team and discovered just how active and innovative Rotary is. Watch the video here.
