The Rotary Club of Wolverhampton is reuniting surviving members of the Wolverhampton Wanderers 1980 League Cup winning team for a fundraising dinner in aid of local charities.

The event is the brainchild of former Wolves striker Mel Eves, who is now President of the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton. More than 300 guests will gather at the Copthorne Hotel near Wolverhampton on Friday March 15th for the event, which will be hosted by BBC Radio WM’s Paul Franks.

Mel explains: “Rotary clubs are all about helping communities, so I’m immensely proud to have been able to organise this event in aid of local good causes. The occasion will see the surviving members of the squad who achieved that historic victory over Nottingham Forest reunited, along with the managerial duo of John Barnwell and Richie Barker. We are hoping to raise £5,000 for the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton’s Charitable Trust. The proceeds will go to local charities including Compton Hospice, Bye to Cancer and the Wolverhampton Multiple Sclerosis Centre.”
