Last Saturday, 28th May, Jean Martyn, from the Rotary Club of Brewood & District and a member of the International Fellowship of Rotarian Musicians, was voted through to the finals of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent with the unanimous agreement of the show’s four judges, Amanda Holden, David Hasselhoff, Michael McIntyre and Simon Cowell.
Jean, 59, has been playing music for 30 years, regularly performing at church and charity events, as well as entertaining international Rotarians at the RI Convention held in Birmingham two years ago. She plays the keyboard and organ and started teaching music when she was 21, going on to do so for 20 years until one of her pupils once asked her ‘Who is Mozart?’, when she couldn’t take it anymore!
Jean entered Britain’s Got Talent because she wants to achieve her lifelong dream and share her talent with the world: her dream has always been to become a concert pianist. Jean currently lives in Brewood, Staffordshire and has one son. Since retiring from being a music teacher in 1998, she has been able to dedicate her time to music. She trained at Trinity College, Trent Park and The Guildhall School of Music.
So come on everybody… tune in to ITV this Saturday the 4th of June and vote for Jean! She will perform again, in front of up to 17 million viewers, for the chance to be crowned champion, and earn that coveted slot on this year’s Royal Variety Performance!
