Usain Bolt, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton are just some of the sporting superstars backing the Rotary Club of Ascot Charity Golf Day by donating personal sports memorabilia for auction.

The star item up for auction at the event on Friday September 20, is a pair of orange Puma running shoes signed by the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt. The shoes are framed alongside a photo of Bolt at the 2009 World Championships where he won his first world championship gold medal wearing a similar pair of shoes.

Organiser, Rotarian Colin Corio, said: “In view of the high level of interest we are expecting in this item, we will be accepting postal and email bids in advance of the sale date. Also the items can be viewed at the Royal Ascot Golf Club on the day, when sealed bids will be accepted at the charity golf administration desk.”

Other sports memorabilia in the auction include a champions league Chelsea football shirt signed by the 2012 squad winners, a Manchester City football shirt signed by the 2011-12 premiership champions squad and a Formula 1 driver’s boot signed by World Champion, Sebastian Vettel and former World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.

The charity golf day is the main fundraising event of the year for the Rotary Club of Ascot and they are partnering with the Children with Special Needs Foundation for this year’s event. The Rotary Foundation will receive 50% of the proceeds of the day and the remainder will be used to support the club’s work with young people in the local community and humanitarian work locally and internationally.

The entry fee for golfers is £360 for a team of four players, to include golf, refreshments and a gala dinner. To enter, or for more details of how to bid for the auction items, please visit the website.
