Rotary clubs in Great Britain and Ireland have been out and about in their local communities for the past few weeks, selling poppies in support of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
On Sunday, Rotarians from the London area will be taking part in the annual Remembrance Day Parade at the Cenotaph. Throughout the rest of Great Britain and Ireland, hundreds more Rotarians will be laying wreaths at their local war memorials in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the two world wars and subsequent conflicts, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
For the third year running, Rotary clubs in the Nottingham area are working with members of the Royal British Legion collecting at football matches and other events and distributing collection boxes to hundreds of businesses and other organisations around the locality.
President of Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI), Nan McCreadie said: “Hundreds of Rotarians along with their families and friends, are working hard to support this year’s fundraising. Rotary is about helping local communities throughout the year and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is just one of the good causes we support. Anyone who would like to get involved with Rotary should contact their local club to find out what is happening in their area.”
