Thousands of scooter fans descended on Blakemere Village for the first Cheshire Scooter Rally and Beer Festival. Organised by the Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal, scooter enthusiasts from all over the North West, Ireland and Wales, basked in the sunshine as hundreds of classic and custom scooters arrived.

The event had everything a scooter enthusiast could ask for including a custom and classic scooter show, prizes, scooter parts and goods fair, trade stands and exhibits, live music, a disco and stalls. A highlight of the event was the roll a dice competition to win a customised Lambretta and of course the beer festival was a great hit on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Charities to benefit are: The Joshua Tree, St Luke’s Hospice, RNLI, the North West Air Ambulance Service and Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Vic Lakeland, President of The Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal said: “The excellent weather, a large turnout and enthusiastic visitors combined to make our first major outdoor event a huge success. It’s so rewarding to raise money for local charities and have such a good time in the process.”

Rotarian Tim Henshall, who organised the rally said: “Rotarians have worked tirelessly to put on this event in order to raise money for our nominated charities. We would like to thank all the other volunteers from the charities we are supporting who turned out to assist us, along with the Northwich Rugby Club who provided volunteer bar staff.”
