It is with sadness that Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) has learned that Rosie Kilburn passed away on Monday 12th September.

Rosie, 19, was an RIBI Young Citizen Award winner in 2010 for her exceptional work to raise awareness of her rare liver cancer,  fundraising efforts and determination to help others.

She was diagnosed at just 17 years old but was determined the illness would not stop her from living life to the fullest and inspired many with her witty and straight talking newspaper column.

Rosie, described by friends and family as beautiful and brilliant, also fronted a national campaign, ran a very successful art auction in 2009 and started her own fundraising business, The Knock on Effect (TKOE), to help cancer sufferers and their families. TKOE has pledged to continue to help break the taboo of talking about cancer.

Rosie was nominated by the Rotary Club of Newent & District and received her young citizen award from television presenter Konnie Huq at the RIBI Conference in Bournemouth in 2010.

A Facebook page has been created to collect tributes.

Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland would like to pass on heartfelt condolences to Rosie’s family at this sad time.
