Clubs across Great Britain and Ireland have come up with lots of fun and innovative ways to raise awareness for Rotary’s polio eradication campaign and the latest project from the Rotary Club of Huntly in Aberdeenshire really is one for the sweet tooth.

The Premier Purple4Polio Ice Cream was the brainchild of club members Paul Robinson, Stuart Wright and Philip Morrison who saw it as a great way to tie in with Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland’s latest campaign.

Philip is a Director at James Rizza’s & Sons Ltd, a local ice cream manufacturer who will be creating the tasty, blueberry flavoured treat, which launched in Northern Scotland at the end of October.

The ice cream has been manufactured in two sizes with 20p from the sale of each 125ml tub and 60p from 1 litre tubs going to Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.

With the approximate cost of a polio vaccination being just 20p, purchasing the Purple4Polio Ice Cream can make a huge difference to children by providing them with potentially lifesaving protection against this crippling disease.

Rizza’s have already started the process of making the ice cream available for wider distribution across the United Kingdom, and manufacturers are hopeful of the product being available in early 2017.

The suggested selling price for 125ml and 1 litre tubs is £1.75 and £4.50 respectively. Orders can be placed by contacting Rizza’s at 01466 792847, or by visiting their website.
