Four new speakers join the line-up for Volunteer Expo

We are delighted to announce four new speakers who will be taking to the stage at Volunteer Expo.

The speaker list for Volunteer Expo keeps growing, with four new names being added to the line-up for the UK’s new, national volunteering show, coming to the NEC Birmingham from 1st-3rd May 2020 and hosted by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland.

Maddie Moate

Maddie is a YouTube filmmaker and BAFTA-winning presenter, passionate about curiosity and creating content for young people. One of the UK’s only female ‘Edu-tubers’, Maddie has amassed over 18 million views on her films.

Maddie will be headlining the Main Stage on Friday 1st May as part of Volunteer Expo’s Changemaker’s Day, which includes content specifically for Key Stage 3 and 4 students.

Brooke Kinsella

An acting star of stage and screen, including EastEnders, in the last decade, Brooke has become better known for her avid campaigning against knife crime after her 16-year-old brother, Ben Kinsella, was tragically murdered in 2008.

Brooke’s campaigning has generated millions of pounds for anti-knife crime services and The Ben Kinsella Trust, set up in her brother’s name, is one of the country’s leading, and most successful, anti-knife crime charities and focuses on early intervention and education for young people.

Sanj Srikanthan

Sanj is the Chief Executive of disaster response charity, ShelterBox. Sanj has been leading teams in adversity over the last two decades; from peacekeeping operations on the Iran-Iraq border, to responding to Ebola outbreaks in Liberia.

He will be sharing his experiences and unique insight into international disaster response and how conflicts shape how societies can work together.

Sir Martyn Lewis

Sir Martyn spent three decades as a journalist and television newscaster, alongside many charity sector projects, including being Chairman of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Sir Martyn’s speaker session will bring together the remarkable evidence of how Constructive or ‘Solutions-driven’ Journalism, to promote positive news stories, is gathering momentum around the world – including within parts of the British media.

Maddie, Brook, Sir Martyn and Sanj join a host of other speakers for the event, including former world champion boxer and mental health campaigner Frank Bruno, and other celebrity activists, volunteer heroes and sector leaders.

Alongside speaker sessions, visitors to Volunteer Expo will be able to browse a bustling exhibition of local, national and global charities, and take part in a range of practical and insightful volunteering workshops.

Tickets to Volunteer Expo are completely free and available to book online. If you’re a school or college looking to join us for our Changemakers Day, find out more information here.
