New Generations Service Exchange

Volunteer overseas in Rotary’s cause areas to change the lives of others, and your own.

Giving young adults the opportunity to grow through service.

What is New Generations Service Exchange?

New Generations Service Exchange (NGSE) is a short term exchange programme focused on international voluntary service opportunities for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30.

Exchanges typically last between five weeks and three months and allow young adults to participate in either humanitarian or vocational service, related or unrelated to their chosen field of study or work.

The programme offers opportunities for service in one or more of Rotary’s causes, also known as Rotary’s Areas of Focus:

  • Peacebuilding and conflict resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Community economic development
  • Supporting the environment

This is the ideal programme for young people wanting to do something worthwhile before or during their studies or into their professional lives.

The worldwide Rotary networks of international, community and youth service will open up a number of countries where opportunities will enable you to:

  • Improve the lives of others and in doing so enrich your own
  • Develop new skills and experience
  • Learn about other cultures and practices
  • Build a network of like minded friends

Who is eligible?

NGSE is open to:

  • Young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who want to help others less fortunate than themselves
  • Students who have just completed their secondary education and who want to do voluntary work in the summer before college or university, or as part of a gap year
  • Those in college or university education and graduates who have time to volunteer
  • Young professionals who wish to develop their skills and gain experience within a given vocation, for the benefit of others

How to get involved
