Rotary members from Dorset break a world record

Rotary members from Dorset break a world record to publicise polio.

It’s official, they’re in the Guinness World Records!

Rotary members in Dorset have received confirmation that their attempt to organise the longest line of letters is a world best.

Chris Slocock was instrumental in the record attempt in Wimborne during the summer of 2017.

The record for the longest line of letters was performed by 270 people each holding a letter promoting the polio campaign.

Eve Conway, who was then Rotary in Great Britain & Ireland President, joined in alongside the town’s mayor of the longest human representation of a text.

The text said: For over thirty years, Rotary and its members have been committed to fighting to eradicate polio across the world.

The amount of polio-endemic countries has dropped from 125 to 3, with over two and a half billion children receiving vaccinations thanks to the help of Rotary.
